Jodi Cornish, CPA, CA

Jodi commenced her accounting career with Brown Smith Owen LLP as a CA student in 1994 after obtaining her Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Manitoba. She then went on to obtain her CA designation in January, 1999 and was admitted to the partnership in January, 2003. She prides herself on establishing and maintaining close relationships with her clients with the primary goal being to fully understand their needs.

These relationships have become the foundation for extending solid professional advice to aid them in achieving either short term tax compliance and financial reporting requirements or long-term objectives including purchase and sale of a business, corporate restructuring and estate and succession planning strategies.

Through years of experience she has been able to effectively service a wide variety of industries including oil and gas services, medical practices, nursery and landscape businesses, trucking and hauling, retail operations, professional services, construction, consulting and manufacturing. Outside of work she keeps active and devotes her time to her family.

Ron Harder, CPA, CA

Even as soon as Grade Nine, Ron Harder knew he wanted to be accountant – because he liked numbers, and helping people, and it would work well with his golf aspirations!

After obtaining his CA designation in 1997, Ron joined the Brown Smith Owen LLP team. He then became a partner in 2003. On January 1, 2014 the firm was renamed Cornish Harder Niederle LLP. Ron enjoys assisting clients in achieving their personal and business financial goals. From medical professionals to agriculture, and the many variety of industries in Central Alberta, the individual needs of each client are unique and changing. Working together and setting a path with them gives Ron his greatest satisfaction.

Ron is also busy in the community. Currently, he sits on the Board of the Innisfail Golf Club as President of the Club. He has served on the Boards of the Red Deer Chamber of Commerce and Deer Park Alliance Church as well. He also coached in the Red Deer Minor Hockey Commission.

Ron spends free time keeping active, with curling and cross country and downhill skiing in the winter. In the summer, he manages to find time to play a little golf at his home course, the Innisfail Golf Club, along with competing in numerous tournaments.

Ron and his wife Dianne reside in the country, just outside Red Deer, where they enjoy the outdoors, as they try to keep up with their yard work.

Dave Niederle, CPA, CA

Dave articled at Brown Smith Owen LLP in 2004 and obtained his CA designation in 2006 with them. He became partner at Brown Smith Owen LLP in 2012. Effective January 1, 2014 Brown Smith Owen LLP was renamed Cornish Harder Niederle LLP as part of its rebranding strategy.

Dave’s current practice is a diverse one. He provides assurance, consulting and tax advice to his clients who cover a large spectrum of industries. Dave takes great pride in gaining an intimate knowledge of his clients businesses and enjoys being able to make a difference. Whether you’re a company looking to establish itself in an emerging market, or an entity looking to navigate the ever-changing complex tax landscape, Dave looks forward to helping you achieve your objectives.

Growing up in Red Deer, and also raising his own family here, Dave believes that this community is the best place to live, work and play. Dave has coached in the Red Deer Minor Hockey Association for a number of years, was a Rotary Club of Red Deer Sunrise member in the past, sat on the board with the Autism Society of Alberta as Treasurer and also sat on the planning committee for the World Juniors hosted in Alberta.

In his spare time, Dave likes to utilize his down time to catch up with his family and enjoy some RnR time wherever it’s sunny and warm. Dave, his wife and two kids also enjoy travelling, hiking in the mountains and watching the Edmonton Oilers.
